About Hock Hian Wong

Hock Hian has been drawing and painting ever since he can remember. He has always wanted to be a painter growing up. A native of the island country of Singapore, he left for the United States to pursue a degree in Arts. He discovered Film and Animation and fell in love with the medium. After graduating with a BFA in animation, Hock Hian started working in the industry. 15 years later, his experience spans various entertainment industry, such as games, TV, Film, etc. He is a Previs/Layout artist at Dreamworks Animation and has worked on animated movies such as “The Croods”, "Shrek Forever After", "Puss in Boots", "Kung Fu Panda 2", and "How To Train Your Dragon". Prior to Dreamworks, Hock worked on "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen", "2012", "Astro Boy", "Eagle Eye", etc.

Earlier in his career, Hock was a Lead Animator at Sony Playstation for 6 years and worked on game titles such as: Warhawk, Lair, Killzone, Socom series, MLB, etc.

 

After over a decade of working on hit(and misses) movies, games, TV shows, Hock Hian decide to rekinder his old passion for drawing and painting. He has been actively painting, in oils and water color.

 

Hock Hian is also a part-time instructor at the Art Institute of California. He has also conducted workshops, master classes, and seminars in countries such as Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, China and U.S.A. He has a BFA in Computer Arts from the Academy of Arts University and a MA in Interactive Media and Game Design from Savannah College of Art and Design.
